Oblique Retro-Aortic Left Renal Vein and its Clinical Importance.
Kidneys are the organs that remove the waste products of the metabolic activities. A smooth blood flow to the kidneys is essential to maintain their function. Abnormalities of the renal vasculature may result not only in impairing the renal function but can lead to conditions like varicocele. During an autopsy of an adult male, we observed renal vascular variations. The left renal vein had a re...
متن کاملPreferential properties with decremental conduction of the Marshall vein between the coronary sinus and left superior pulmonary vein
Introduction The ligament and vein of Marshall (VOM), with its richly innervated sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves, runs epicardially between the coronary sinus (CS) and left pulmonary veins (LPVs), and can serve as a trigger and substrate for reentry of atrial fibrillation (AF) and atrial tachycardia. Here we describe the case of an AF patient with preferential conduction and decremental ...
متن کاملVein of marshall cannulation for the analysis of electrical activity in patients with focal atrial fibrillation.
BACKGROUND Whether or not the muscle bundle within the ligament of Marshall (LOM) can serve as the origin of focal atrial fibrillation (AF) is unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 28 consecutive patients with paroxysmal AF underwent balloon-occlusion coronary sinus angiograms to identify the vein of Marshall (VOM). Attempts were then made to advance a 1.5-French electrophysiological cathet...
متن کاملEthanol Infusion in the Vein of Marshall in a Patient with Persistent Atrial Fibrillation
We report the case of a 64-year-old male with persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) terminated by ethanol infusion into vein of Marshall as add-on therapy. Three-dimensional automated complex fractionated atrial electrogram (CFAE) during AF revealed clustering of CFAE at perimitral isthmus (PMI) and its unipolar mapping showed rotor-like activation, which was suggested to be critical in the perpe...
متن کاملVein of Marshall partially isolated with radiofrequency ablation from the endocardium
The vein of Marshall (VOM) is widely known as a pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation (AF). To eliminate the triggers of AF, the Marshall potential can be ablated both from the endocardium with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and from the epicardium with ethanol injection. This is a case report of successful catheter ablation from the endocardium to visualize the electrically isolated area of the VOM.
